Six Apprentices started their First Day of Work at ABM

On September 1, 2008 six new apprentices started their work life at ABM. They will be trained as machinists, electronic technician for ma-chines and drives and tool maker. For the 1st time the company also offers the co-op program Dual; in cooperation with the college of higher education in Hof job training as mechatronic technician and parallel studies in industrial engineering majoring in mechatronics are offered.

A diversified first day of work savored this special occasion in the life of an apprentice. After a welcome by the HR department and the responsible instructors the apprentices were informed about organizational matters. After that a plant tour followed and an official welcome by Dr. Joerg E. Franke, CEO. A joint lunch with all other apprentices let the “newcomers” immediately feel comfortable in the company.

The afternoon started with a knowledge rally, guiding the new apprentices through different departments of the company. By answering questions and collecting puzzle pieces at different stations participants got to know the company. At the end of the event all apprentices received awards and a premium toolbox that will be filled with professional tools during the training if good grades are received. The apprentices can keep this toolbox after successful graduation.

„Demanding acceptance requirements that are tested during an aptitude test developed in house, excellent internal training conditions and solid growth assures all apprentices to be offered jobs in their chosen profession after graduation” says Dr. Joerg E. Franke, CEO.
